Why worry about aging. You must live for the moment.

We seem to be a Society obsessed with aging and boomer aging views on this subject are best seen in our actions. Perhaps we boomers even carry it to extremes. I'm sure part of this fixation with youth is simply Boomers nostalgia for our coming-of-age in the free spirited 1960s. For a generation that declared "never trust anyone over 30" its tough to admit that we are only a short sprint away from the retirement years and beyond. When I think of my life from infant to 63 years of age, it happened so fast, I can hardly believe it.

Actually many of us have already retired. While its true that previous generations entered middle-age with little fanfare, as we always have, Boomers will shatter conventional wisdom of what it means to grow old in America. We will probably create a new model of adulthood, a midlife phase concentrated on

renewal. Of course, I am happy with that becaused I have emphasized "Living your life to its fullest" through out this website.

No one likes to talk about death, I certainly don't, its just the end result of life on this earth. In spite of all the "garbage" printed about baby boomers, we realize that. I think to appreciate the freedoms that many people enjoy as a result of the "hippie movement", especially minorities and women, some in the news media should have experienced life in the 1950s. Sure I have some good memories of the 50s, but I have more bad ones.

I just don't understand why so many, especially in the press, are so obsessed with "wanting us to act old". To hell with them as for as I am concerned. I don't care if you are 45 or 95, if you still enjoy doings things that you did when you were younger, I say "GO FOR IT". I am in my 60s and I have always enjoyed high performance cars. Guess what!!! I just purchased one. I also enjoy it. I am going to do as I please as long as I can and I think that is the view of most baby boomers. Aging is just a process that we can't avoid. However, getting older doesn't mean that we cannot continue living a life fulfilling our dreams.

"Life is pleasant. Death is peaceful. It's the transition that's troublesome." Isaac Asimov

I read an article which is attributed to "George Carlin". Whether he actually wrote it or not I have no idea. I thought it was funny and holds a lot of truth. So we will call it.... "George Carlin's views on aging", so think about it.

Do you realize that the only time in our lives when we like to get old is when we are kids? If you are less than 10 years old you think in fractions. "How old are you"? "I am four and a half!! You are never thirthy six and a half. You're four and a half, going on five!! Thats the key.

You get into your teens, now they can't hold you back. You jump to the next number, or even a few ahead. "How old are You"? "I'm gonna be 16". You could be 13, but hey you're Gonna be 16!! And then the greatest day of your life....... You become 21. Even the words sound like a ceremony..... You Become 21. Yessss!!!.

But then you turn 30 Ooooohh, what happened there? Makes you sound like bad milk!! He Turned; we had to throw him out. There's no fun now, you are just a sour-dumpling. Whats wrong? Whats changed?

You Become 21, you Turn 30, then you're Pushing 40. Whoa!! Put on the brakes, its all slipping away. Before you know it you Reach 50 and your dreams are gone. But wait!! You Make it to 60. You didn't think you would!

So you Become 21, Turn 30, Push 40, Reach 50, Make it to 60. You have built up so much speed that you Hit 70! After that its a day-by-day thing; you Hit Wednesday. You get into your 80s and every day is a complete cycle; you Hit lunch; you ,Turn 4:30; you Reach bedtime. And it doesn't end there. Into the 90s you start going backwards; "I was just 92".

Then a strange thing happens. If you make it to 100, you become a kid again. "I'm 100 and a half". May you all make it to a healthy 100 and a half.

I hope all of my baby boomer pals enjoy this and hey there is a lot of truth in it. Actually, it does sound like something our "ol hippie friend would say".
