Baby boomers want to travel. That seems to be the first answer given. I do to!!
Baby boomers want to travel.
We have always been travelers and that part hasn't changed. I think the methods and expectations of what the boomer travel trends should be have changed, at least for most of us. Just like our attitudes about where we want to go and our methods for getting there may be different. From my research, I've concluded still, we want to travel. If you plan to travel in the U.S. you need to bookmark this site. It is a beautiful site. I like to look at it and day dream about all of the places I want to visit and these places are all federally managed recreation areas. This site is for calling ahead of time and reserving a cabin, RV parking, camp site or what ever is available. Check both sites out. They are free. If you have a pet, always make sure where ever you stay, they are allowed. We have a little Bichon Frise and he goes where ever we go. If you have a dog also this is a great place to shop. "The tragedy of life is not that it ends so soon, but that we wait so long to begin it."
When you think about it in spite of all the problems in some places, there are so many beautiful places on this earth to see, whether it is in America,
Canada,
Australia
or wherever. This is one I want to do. Travel Alaska. Just name your destination and go. "We only get to go around one time". I especially like this website and the reasons are simple. You can get the best deals and usually there is someone on vacation there that you can contact and actually talk to them about a particular place, look at photos and make up your mind if that is really where you want to go or not. Its really cool!

I think baby boomer trends as for as travel will probably depend to some extent, on what type of work they did before retirement. For example my work had me traveling a lot especially abroad, so I want to spend my time traveling across this beautiful country America and I would also like to go to some places in Canada.
Most of the older boomers parents did very little travel, for example my parents were born, grew up, married, worked and died all in a 50 mile radius. It breaks my heart when I think that they probably visited no more than 2 or 3 states their whole life. While "the silent generation" for the most part were content with staying home, visiting family etc, the baby boomers have been "movers and shakers", wanting to see what was over the
next hill, adventurous, defiant and independent. I suppose I have always been that way and to be honest, I don't give being a baby boomer as much credit for being the way that I am as just having a thirst for knowledge, taking in everything I can, going different places and seeing all that I can see while I am on this earth. Along with that, I have always had a sense of mortality. Cancun Destination Guide
Most data supports travel as being the number one thing that baby boomers want to do when they retire. Check your favorite destination and see how much it would cost.
life passes by so fast. I am all for aging gracefully, just don't wait forever to do it, because life won't wait for you. As boomers turn 60, some of them have already pretty much mapped out their plans. I know it is hard to focus on things you had planned for your retirement, with fuel prices "sky-high", everything going on in the world like the "middle-east". Those problems have been going on there for almost 2,000 years. Hey, those countries can't even get along with each other and until they learn to get along in spite of their differences nothing will change. Frankly, I don't see that happening in our lifetime. I have said this before and its the truth. I don't care "who you are", "how much money you have, or don't have", in the end, everybody gets one shot at life, and in this case retirement. As for me, I am going to take advantage of it.
I hope all baby boomers do the same. You can start by comming to my beautiful area. Find the best deal, compare prices and read what other travelers have to say about Hilton Garden Inn Pensacola Beach
The one theme I have emphasized throughout this site, is to " live life to its fullest every single day." According to statistics, people are not slowing down as they age. They want to see more and gain international experiences. Thanks to technology, television and the internet have shrunk the world and many people are more confident to travel further away from home to unfamiliar places. Anywhere and everywhere is a popular destination right now, especially locations offering adventures. My wife wants to take a vacation to Paris, but not me. I told her, that would be a trip for her and her mother. Even though I have been to Hawaii before I would like to go back, so I'm hoping we can reach a compromise. I guess because I have done so much foreign travel, that I just want to explorer more of this beautiful country. I would like to go to more places in Canada and I have always wanted to go to Australia.
Costa Rica is big among boomers seeking beautiful terrain and unique eco-adventure travel. Trips to the South Pacific, visiting Australia and New Zealand are also in demand for their beaches, water sports, interesting habitat and easily understood culture. I only have to get in the car and drive about 10 minutes to be at a place like that. "The whole strip referred to as the "Miracle Strip", from Orange Beach, AL, to Panama City, FL, which includes Gulf Shores, Perdido Key, Pensacola, Fort Walton Beach, and Destin, has some of the most beautiful beaches in the world". Tourism is a vital part of this area's economy and I am blessed to have been able to call this area home for the last 43 years. As I mentioned in the "About me" section of this site, boating has always been a big part of our lives and will continue to be. I had to sell the one in the photo because I had to have another surgery, but I will be looking for another one this winter. This is the wrong time of the year to buy a boat anywhere. So COME ON DOWN! The weather is great and the beaches are beautiful. Travelocity SAVES You 20% or MORE on Air Fares
The last thing in our plans is to buy an RV and" hit the road". This country that I love so much, has so much to offer, and I want to hit the back roads, camp out beside beautiful lakes and though it would take a life time to see it all, I want to cram all that I can into my last good years. I was pleasantly surprised to find out that many baby boomers want to do or are already doing the same thing. RV sales have increased dramatically in the last couple of years. Sure, like all of my hobbies its expensive, so what. its only money and you can't take it with you.
