The baby boomers have taken this country from a biased stuck in one place mentality to the most advanced country in the world. Oh, I know if you
listen to the news media, all we did was protest, burn our country's flag and smoke pot. Did I have fun during the hippie era? Hell yes, but I worked full time and even though I married, I was to young and it didn't last. The good thing that came out of it was two young sons and I spent a lot of time with them. Like many of you, I am also a Vietnam Veteran. I don't know about the majority of Americans, but I stopped giving a damn about what the news media thought a long time ago. They live off of NEGATIVE news stories.
There is one thing going on in this country that "drives me nuts" and that is "crooked politicians". All the way from the local governments to Washington D.C., they are all alike. Once they get elected they forget about the voters and do nothing but cater to lobbyists and special interest groups. All they care about is getting re-elected and I am talking about both parties. The only thing they know how to do is blow taxpayer money while many people in this country live in poverty. Our parents, the so-called SENIOR CITIZENS, are treated like people from some third world country and I am sick of it. I know you may be saying, just another liberal talking. WRONG!! I have voted conservative all of my life. At this point, I don't know what I am anymore except angry. Personally I am changing my party affiliation to " Independent" and the next one that gets my vote will have to earn it. I am just tired of seeing tax-payer money spent by people, some who have been in power for over 30 years, example Robert Byrd-Democrat, Ted Stevens-Repubican.
There is a mood in this country of people growing increasingly frusterated with a congress, that is afraid of taking on the tough decisions like illegal immigration, healthcare and a social security bill that will really work. Instead for the last 16 years all they have done is hold press conferences and finger point. The cycle just goes round and round. That goes for both parties. It is time that we, the American people, and specifically the baby boomers did something about it.
