Baby boomers and retirement. When should we retire?

"Life is not measured by the number of breaths we take but by the moments that take our breath away"

Baby Boomers and retirement. We will be hearing a lot on this subject in the next few years and I'm sure mostly negative. I use the word, negative, because in the course of developing this site, I am constantly researching, reading news articles, etc. on this topic and it is hard to find anything that we boomers did in the past or are going to do in the future that is positive, if you choose to believe the "news media". Personally, I could care less what they say or think. I hope you will do the same.

Whatever your plans please remember one thing: It is your life, you have earned the right to be here and enjoy whatever benefits you are entitled too at this moment in time, no matter what country you are from.

Don't let anyone take that freedom away from you. You may as well go ahead and look at some easy chairs. Adirondack Chairs - Shop at AdirondackChairs.com for the best selection and prices on outdoor furniture. Click Here

I'm not sure the word "retire" is even the right word to use, if it means to do nothing. Even though I don't "punch a time clock" anymore, I stay busy. Sometimes its doing things like boating with my family, working on my home or in the yard, which I have always enjoyed, but I still spend a lot of time earning money. I like being my own boss and working my own hours, so I build websites. It is something that I enjoy doing it is something I would encourage any of you to do and I don't mean these "get rich quick schemes". I also don't mean getting a domain name and some hosting company. There is only one way to do it if you truely want a business that will last. If you want to supplement your retirement income or start a new career take a look at this.

At present the big Madison Ave. ad agencies aren't really interested in marketing to the 40 yr. to 65 yr. old age group. They want to market to the 18 yr. to 39 yr. old group. That will change though and soon! I need to make an update here. Since I started developing this site we are already seeing some changes with the Madison Avenue agencies. Even though most of their recent ads have been failures in trying to target the baby boomers, I think they are finally catching on. I think they are starting to realize the younger group doesn't have any money. The baby boomers and the mature age group, you know, the ones called "senior citizens" have it all. Just trying to add a humerous spin to a subject that is true. Many baby boomers, especially the ones born prior to 1964 are still working, raising families, and I hope they are investing in a 401K, IRA, or something. Decision making time. You have to try this decision makeing tool. Helps you make decisions about anything.

As a boomer you well know that your health needs to be considered. But that is not the only consideration that we baby boomers need to look at....

*Wealth.*

Not all of us boomers have enough of that green stuff available to us to live the lifestyle that we desire and deserve. Jerry and I ( Chris ) have done something about this problem and we both want to help you to achieve your dreams just like we have and at about a cost of 80 cents a day it's not so costly.

We have each built a web site using the best and most easily used web hosting program available. In my case I have just bought myself a new car --- value $66,000, paid for with the money my web site earns and you can do it too.

So check this web hosting out and see just how easy it is.

So get into it, you deserve better, a much better retirement and lifestyle awaits you. So, my fellow baby boomers, wishing you all the "Best."

Actually when to retire is a difficult question to answer. According to a lot of researchers and statistics most people will probably have a mix of work and leisure, or going into another business, mixed with travel and vacations. Many people want to do a lot of volunteering. Others will have to continue working because they haven't adequately prepared for retirement. If you want to continue working but maybe change jobs here is the best place to go to get your resume out front of the rest. Post your resume on HotJobs.com today!

It just depends on how well you have prepared for that day. Personally I would not wait until I was 65-67 years old. For one reason, that is exactly what the government is wanting you to do, and I am strictly talking about social security. Then they might not have to pay you at all. They keep raising the retirement age limit every time they get a chance. Even though I don't think this will affect the older baby boomers, it certainly could affect the younger folks and (new term) the echo boomers, our children.
That brings up another point. While as a group our generation may be as polerized politically as the country, just by shear numbers alone, we are a force to be reckoned with, and united we can get some things done in this country, or keep getting rid of Congress members until we do, and again I am talking about both sides of the isle.

Who knows the real state of Social Security. The only time you hear about it from politicans is when it's time for re-election, again I'm talking about both parties. I don't know about you but I really am sick of the same old tired talking points. Congress reminds me of a bunch of little kids.

Seriously, it does depend on several things, not the least being when can you afford to? Many people really love their jobs and don't want to retire until they are kicked out. Others can't wait for the last day. I guess I find it a little hard to understand why some people are so afraid of retiring. I don't have any problem finding somehing I enjoy every day. I love to read so when I a'm not in the mood to do any thing, I grab a book and pretty soon I am lost in it.

Relax with your favorite book.

I am retired now and I look at it as a new adventure. You can't go through life worrying about all of the "what if's". After all isn't this what we worked all of our lives for? To be able to stop the 9 til 5 routine and pursue our dreams, hobbies, or even a new career if that is what you want. The aging process is something we have no control over, yep even the baby boomers. So enjoy the next stage of your life, by whatever name you want to call it. The answer is yes you can do it!!

One day about 20 years ago while having a conversation with some business friends, I really started focusing on the words of each person in the conversation. Then I thought of what I had contributed to the conversation and soon realized that probably 90% of everything said was negative. After spending a few weeks listening to other people, it dawned on me just how negative people were, includeing me. I guess it is easier to say "it won't work", "you can't do it", etc. I resolved then that I was going to think and be positive about everything!! I am a much better person today for it and to me there is no such thing as "I can't"!!

Ever since I had to stop work because of a fall that injured me for life, I always wanted to have a successful internet business. I would choose a domain name, design a website, then pay someone to host it and it just sit there in cyberspace along with millions of others doing nothing. After months of spending money on so called "get rich quick schemes", I came across a book written By Dr. Ken Evoy called "make my site sell". At first I didn't understand what he was talking about. The more I read the more I realized what I had been doing wrong, I already have one successful website, my goal is to have three sites and there is only one way to build them. SBI

You can do it too and you will have help every single step
